At home in the Harz Mountains.
Where small streams swell into broad rivers, the landscape rises gently in rolling hills toward its highest peak in the north, and nature takes on its own pristine forms within a national park—we welcome you. The Harz is Germany’s northernmost low mountain range and is richer in natural beauty and historical culture than almost any other region within such a small area. Measuring just 110 kilometers long and 30 to 40 kilometers wide, it covers an area of 2,226 km². The Harz forms a junction between Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Lower Saxony and is an important part of German history. It was here that Germany was divided until 1989. But that’s not all—no fewer than three UNESCO World Heritage Sites await you here.
For a carefree time in our region, we recommend checking out the Harz Tourism Association’s website for more information. Would you like to explore the region and its many attractions?
